I watched Popeye and Son on RPN every Saturday morning & I enjoyed it. It was the second & last Popeye cartoon to be produced by Hanna-Barbera. This show is the only Popeye cartoon to be animated overseas in Asia just like how cartoons from the mid to the late 1980s used to be animated overseas in Asia. It originally aired on CBS every Saturday morning between 1987 & 1988 & later on USA Network in 1989 in the United States. In the version, Popeye is not voiced by Jack Mercer due to his death in 1984. Instead, he was voiced by Maurice LaMarche & he continues to voice Popeye in the 1990s. The only person who died after the show is canceled for 13 episodes & one season was Marilyn Schreffler, the actress who voiced Olive Oyl, Lizzie, Puggy & The Sea Hag is already dead as of July 10, 1989 Monday. How come I didn't watch that show on Cartoon Network after The All New Popeye Show? That's because Marilyn Schreffler voiced Olive & Sea Hag in both shows. Maybe the TV animation renascence didn't start in the United States until the late 1989 after Mel Blanc died. The Filmation studio didn't live up competing Hanna-Barbera after its' closure in 1989 during the 1990s. For me, the Popeye theme song always get stuck in my head as a kid when I watched it on Cartoon Network during the late 1990s & the early 2000s. Maybe my childhood isn't ruined after all.
