On January 15, 1999, GMA Network started airing reruns of the original English dub of Voltes V which was the first anime to air in my country back in 1978. The anime series was finally concluded in my country with the compilation film subtitled "The Liberation" that June in theaters. One of the few things that annoys me was that Steve Armstrong screaming the name of robot after volt in sequence was complete, & he never shuts up. Anyway, GMA airs reruns of Voltes V every Friday night at 7:30 p.m. before Daimos until September 24 when the classic anime was replaced by Pokémon the following week. Oh, & I can forget the Filipino dubs from late 1999 onward & the live action version subtitled "Legacy" last year.
It's way past my bedtime!
From 1995 to 2001, Cartoon Network was once a 15 hour cable channel in my country. At 9 p.m. till 6 a.m., the channel was switched over to TNT (later Turner Classic Movies in 2000) & lasted until June 30, 2001 Saturday when Cartoon Network became its own 24 hour channel the following day. For me in my childhood, I would turn off the TV at 9 in the evening.

Like I said, it's Yu Yu Hakusho not Ghost Fighter!
Before Funimation (now Crunchyroll) acquired the anime series in the early 2000s, Media Blasters' Anime Works label released both versions of Yu Yu Hakusho: The Movie on VHS in 1998. The one with the original Japanese version with English subtitles, the other with the English dub done in Arleta, Los Angeles. Also, the first film was 30 minutes short. In my country, the series was called Ghost Fighter for its Filipino dub & name changes. It's a good thing I couldn't find a Filipino dub of the first film, because the whole thing is lost media nowadays.

It's game time!
In 1993 during Super Bowl XXVII on NBC, Bud Bowl had a major change in the fifth edition. The bottles were transitioned to CGI by Pacific Data Images (later PDI/DreamWorks), & the hosts were Ahmad Rashād & Karen Duffy. The previous human hosts in the third & forth editions were the late Keith Jackson, Don Meredith & Chris Berman. Team Budweiser won 4 times in a row, which was coached by Joe Namath after Bud Light's The Illuminator was caught by a Budweiser blimp. Speaking of The Illuminator, it was transformed from a Bud Light truck using a morphing effect by an unnamed Team Bud Light coach portrayed by Corbin Bernsen with a radar. The sixth edition the following year did the exact same thing, this time hosted by Marv Albert & the CGI bottles including The Basher were done by Boss Film Studios. Same thing with the Pillsbury Doughboy, from stop motion to CGI.

A Brief History of Nickelodeon (Southeast Asia)
Here's a brief history of Cartoon Network's rival, Nickelodeon in Southeast Asia. The channel was launched in the Philippines on November 5, 1998 as a 24-hour English-language channel. Then, the network expanded into Indonesia, Malaysia & Sri Lanka via pan-regional feed broadcast from Singapore since 1999. Back in the day before August 22, 1999, it aired original animated programing such as Rugrats & The Angry Beavers. I don't what other Nicktoons premiered on Nickelodeon in Southeast Asia after August 22, 1999 but I have to find out soon if I have to tell my mom to call the post master to ask some questions about it.
